SIGILS FOR COMMUNICATION

2021-2023. Photographs with digital drawings.

An ongoing series interpreting the structures of TV and radio aerials as blueprints for magickal sigils. In chaos magick, a sigil is a type of visual spell that is charged by intent. This method is also found in more ancient magical practices, such as in the arcane staves of the Icelandic Galdrabók and the mystical glyphs of The Key of Solomon. These sigils were conceived as spells for communication and receptivity, empowering the user with clarity of intent and an openness to receive knowledge and opportunities. Displayed in floating lightboxes, the sigils are illuminated from behind and seem energetically charged. Shown in this way, the work gestures to the world of advertising and highlights the unseen forces that shape our perception.
